SOUND OF RAIN
Night spreads quiet feathers.
Rain whispers across the yard,
a secret conclave of clucking chickens.
Moon wanes to a thread;
warm breezes blow
like spring flowing from the stars;
today the rain falls on top of dark night.
Welcome as a guest, rain falls.
I open the window to greet the rain;
the rain comes in invisible whispers.
In the yard, against the window, on the roof.
Rain falls with glad news for me:
news no one else knows.
